My name is Steven Marra. Some people call me Steve, some call me Steven. You’ll see me write my name as Steve(n). I figure it gives people options. =)
I’m the son of both a broadcaster and a gardener.
I’m a native West Virginian.
I’m a father, husband, brother, and friend.
When I was 12, I hurt my back for the 1st time. I’ve got a slight defect in a vertebra. It set me up for lifetime of repeated injury and near-constant pain. For anyone who lives with chronic pain, you know how it resets your perception of how rate your discomfort. You also know how terrible it is when the pain level increases. About 2 years ago, my pain level changed- dramatically.
I was ready to go get a narcotic pump evaluation. It was bad. It became worse than bad.
I knew Melita, and she pestered me, off-and-on, for months to come see her. I finally gave in the same week I decided to make my appointment with the pain clinic.
The long story cut short is this:
After my 2nd session, I was so amazed by the results, I decided Bowen had to be a part of my life. I went in with the same doubt almost everyone I know brings to the table; can this really help me, how can it work if it’s so gentle, does it really do enough since it’s minimally invasive? I left with the desire to learn how to do Bowen, and to help others who have chronic pain.
So, here I am. I’m a Jack of All Trades, Master of Some. By day I work for WVU. In the evenings I do Bowen. I’m a writer, photographer, teacher, computer nerd, board-and-more-gamer, ex-caver, science-lover, poet, builder, scifi geek, cook, golfer, nature-wonderer, once-upon-a-time philosopher. And I am a Bowen Therapist.
I am a chronic pain sufferer, going on 31 years, and Bowen Therapy helps me live a happier, much less painful life.
I hope I can help you, like Melita helped me.
