Doug Rector

My name is Doug, and I have been practicing bodywork as a licensed massage therapist in West Virginia since 2012. Over the past fourteen years, I’ve dedicated myself to studying a wide range of modalities under some of the most respected instructors in the world. My training spans from neuromuscular techniques to subtle energy work, giving me a broad and adaptable skill set.

This journey has allowed me to work with thousands of clients—everyone from individuals seeking relief from chronic pain to first‑team All‑American and professional athletes. Helping people restore balance, reduce pain, and reconnect with their bodies has been one of the great joys of my life.

My deepest fascination has always been with connective tissue and fascia—the body’s remarkable network that supports movement, communication, and healing. I’m continually inspired by the body’s ability to act as both a generator and a semiconductor of electromagnetic energy. That curiosity and passion have led me to the next phase of my work: Bowen Therapy. I believe wholeheartedly in its potential, and I’m confident that together we can address pain, dysfunction, and the deeper layers of well‑being that often go overlooked.

Before entering this field, I graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in finance. At 30, while working at a mutual fund firm in Rockville, Maryland, I realized that path wasn’t aligned with who I was becoming. I bought a one‑way ticket to Hawaii, landed at Maui Dive Shop, and spent my days logging hundreds of boat and shore dives. Eventually, life brought me back to West Virginia, where I found the career that truly fits me.

Today, I’m the proud father of a brilliant five‑year‑old boy and the companion of a beautiful dog. My hobbies include martial arts, time on the river, poker, and yoga—each one a different way of exploring movement, focus, and presence.
